Richard V. Piacentini
Executive Director, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
Richard guides the Phipps Conservatory and has done do since 1994. He is responsible for the ‘green’ transformation of Phipp’s facilities and operations, most notably, the LEED certified visitor’s center, the LEED Platinum greenhouses certified under the EBOM program, and the Center for Sustainable Landscapes, a facility designed to meet the Living Building Challenge, LEED Platinum, and SITES certifications. The Tropical Forest Conservatory at Phipps is one of the most energy efficient in the world. Scott is a licensed architect in the State of Washington, and is currently a project architect for GGLO. He is the co-founder of SnoLEAF, and visionary of the Big! “Green” GREENHOUSE Design Competition.
